hmm...

I must have went wrong somewhere. Because the pattern says that the blocks should finish at 7 and 1/2".
Mine are finishing at 9". Now I am reconsidering where I originally wanted to put this upon completion. Seriously now I am debating how I want to finish this. So I have it pinned up to my felt door until I decide. Maybe you could help? What do you think about??

Short and tall/or flipped on it's side short and wide
Or I could go with the square option?
I was hoping to have this together by the end of the weekend. That way I could start on the quilting. That opens up a whole other ball of wax, handquilting vs. machine??? Regardless I'm still in love with the fabric, :) Bliss, absolute bliss I tell you!

Undecided

This all started with a donation of fabric from a family member. Maybe this fabric was meant to be pillow panels or place mats? Anyway it just wasn't my style. Don't get me wrong. I like sunflowers, just outside. I believe I read somewhere if you still don't like the fabric, than you just haven't cut it small enough. (Bonnie Hunter)???? http://www.quiltville.com/

I was following directions... but this time I wish that, I paid more attention to the directions. If so I would have realized that the chain pieces finish at about an inch and a half. Or that I could have constructed the blocks more log cabin type method, rather than what I'm doing. Slow, steady, slow, steady. There I go talking out loud again and trying to convince myself through this.

I have absolutely everything cut, and have 4 blocks finished. These 4 blocks make me nervous. Should I keep working at it if I don't like it? There is an awful lot of white in this. I could tea stain it. umm?? Should I add something to it? Maybe I just need the right inspiration, I bought the book Embroidery Companion, Classic designs for Modern Living, from Alicia Paulson at http://http//rosylittlethings.typepad.com/posie_gets_cozy/ Maybe the plain blocks just need something. Like this stencil that I bought years ago. Maybe it would make a great stencil for embroidery?
As of now, I'm undecided...either way it is far away from a completed project.
P.S if you respond to one of my posts would you prefer me to email you a response or just to reply by comments?

WOW...

Today I have been highlighted on the wonderful blog Quilt story, http://www.quiltstory.blogspot.com/ . If only you could see my smile right now, I think it will be their all day. :) I have had the opportunity to read so many wonderful stories behind the production of quilts, and it now feels like such an honor to share the story behind one of my quilts. I hope you enjoy it.

For almost everyone here is new, please realize that I'm new to blogging. But the greatest thing about it meeting new friends and sharing experiences. I look forward to hearing from you. May you have a wonderful day!

The end of summer vacation...

Time is a tricky thing. It seems it was just the beginning of summer and I was just beginning working on this. So it's kind of fitting that summer is coming to a close and this quilt is finished. Although it will not remain with me. It is being donated to http://www.cpadsag.org/ for their silent auction during the September buddy walk.

I have enjoyed summer... the time with the boys as we went to the pool, 4-H, and explored the state parks. I suppose with the start of school next week it's only fitting that we begin a new chapter and new creative adventures.
